I need to share what this incredible mini computer has done for me. I had to sell my gaming PC for financial reasons, but i still wanted to game with the boys, and so after hours upon hours of watching and reading reviews I finally decided to get the PELADN. For context, I have been building PCs for over twenty years and gaming on them for even longer. I know my way around a computer, which is why I am so picky about what I purchase. I am also running OpenSUSE Linux as my main operating system, which is superior to Windows for lower end hardware (among many other reasons).
This little machine has FAR exceeded my expectations for what a device in its category can accomplish. You won't be playing AAA games anytime soon, but you can definitely play a number of multiplayer titles without issue. I play Heroes of the Storm and Diablo 3 on a daily basis with my friends on Low settings and easily get 60-80fps. Cloud gaming is also excellent on the PELADN, which is why I was so comfortable buying it. I play Helldivers 2 via Clouddeck and have an absolute blast at 60+ fps on Low settings.
Productivity is a breeze, so long as you remember what hardware you're working with. I am a freelance pixel artist and game dev and use Aseprite and Godot engine every single day. I never lag or experience crashes with either software, and that's with Brave browser and multiple tabs open at the same time while listening to the Spotify app. I often forget that this computer even has limitations.
For the price I paid, I could not be happier! I almost want to buy one for my son, but he's a toddler so I'll hold off for a few more years on that. i emphatically recommend the PELADN to anyone looking for a powerful mini-pc, so long as you understand what you can and cannot do on it beforehand. I can see myself sticking with this computer for a long time until I can get the powerhouse gaming PC that I've always wanted but definitely don't need.
This Ryzen 5 5600H is a lot faster than my older Intel N97 minipc. Loading photos from the external USB drive is a lot faster now. Windows 11 OS updated to the latest patches without issue. I am happy with the purchase. The only problem is the bluetooth headphone connection has a lot of noise. I have no idea why.
This little machine is really amazing. The tiny size and low power consumption means it disappears on your desktop and makes zero noise. Unboxing is pleasant and it was hooked up to my monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse in no time. The boot up immediately puts you into the windows 11 Pro setup which took close to 2 hours to complete with all updates. I found zero bloat ware other than normal Microsoft, greatly appreciated. I setup using my online Microsoft account and restored a backup of my laptop configuration so it needed no extra setup. I installed my normal dev tools like beyond compare, notepad ++, vs code, visual studio, git, docker, etc. I restored my several git projects and went to work. This like guy keeps up just fine. Yes it is no screamer like my work laptop, but I still was very effective getting work done. Larger ts projects took a little while and kicked the fan on, but really nothing else. Largish .Net protects were quick and integration tests executed as expected. File transfer to and from my ssd external drive is as fast as my fast laptop, so usb is good. The hdmi audio is also super clean and loud as is the video at 4k 30. I tested half the week on wifi and the second half (and now permanent) on LAN. Both worked great with the speed advantage to LAN. I did not try Bluetooth because I always find my peripherals work better with their dedicated dongles.
The only issue I had was with the included HDMI cable. On my 4k monitor it flashed every so often. I was not sure what was causing the issue but after a few days, I replaced the supplied cable with another cable and it has not flashed since. No worries, the cable was just a bonus anyway.
The other thing to keep in mind if you are planning on attaching to the back of your monitor, if your power settings allow the pc to fully hibernate, then you must click the on button on the box to wake it up. Pressing enter or mouse click will not wake it up. That does not bother me since it is on my desk, but others would be annoyed. A single click results in the pc waking up and presenting you with login in 5 seconds. Super fast.
I am not a gamer so I did not test any of those scenarios, but as a productivity pc, it is amazing for the price. This beats the pants off my n100-base personal laptop which really can’t be used for development but also cost $300.
Overall I’m very pleased with this mini pc. It is sufficiently fast to do real professional development, is 100% silent, takes no space on your desk, and provides a super crisp and clear video/audio experience at 4k.
This Pelron was definitely a small package. It is 4 in x 4in and contains everything a regular computer has to offer including 1T hard drive. There are not many spaces to plug in things though, so I bought a USB Hub. There are 2 USBs in the front and 2 in the back. There are 2 HDMIs in the back and a place for an internet cord. In the front there is a C port and a plug for headphones also. With all the wireless things today, USBs are a must.
I'm using it for my small business having excel, word and saving data to the cloud, so I didn't need much. BUT, to test it, I've watched some TV online and browsed, etc like I would any computer and it is FAST. I'm in love with the ssd, it loads quick from me pushing the on button to a loaded app/web browsing in 20 seconds and shuts off even quicker. I needed a couple extra USB slots, so I bought a hub and it works fine. I'm buying a 2nd for streaming movies/shows on to my TV (I'll post again after some trial). I suspect it would do good with gaming, but maybe not to my sons standards of super high end graphic, gaming.
I got the 512GB/16GB Ram version
